I’ll be honest- I was totally excited for the Canon announcement, brutally let down, and moved on. Or so I thought.

Jonathan Yi has made a video that makes me WANT this camera. During the original announcement - moving dramatic shots and epic sci-fi pieces just didn’t really do it for me. Fun, however, has me completely sold.

Seen on Stu Maschwitz’s blog.

Canon 7D vs Barbie Video Girl

Man… I made the wrong choice.

House - Season 6, Episode 21 “Help Me”, the episode that was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark 2 is now up on Hulu.

I don’t watch the show so I’m not sure how visually similar it is to other episodes. But is sure is pretty…

House Season Finale Shot Entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II

ryanjay:

Wow, the House (great show, btw) season finale was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II. You think that the HD video quality of dSLRs is challenging pro video and film gear yet?

How can I not reblog this?

T2i (aka, shoots like the 7D, costs half price)

chriscrutchfield:

just when I am about to pull the trigger on a 7D… there you go again Canon. Now i’ve gotta do my research all over. Thanks for trying to save me a buck… but simmadown now

Bit of a tangent here- in the US it’ll be named the “Rebel T2i”, most of the world will know it as the “EOS 550D”, and then Japan has the awesomely hilarious name of “EOS Kiss Digital X4” (the Kiss Digital X3 being the T1i).

Canon just announced the 550D which seems to contain the same sensor as the Canon EOS 7D and the same filming options (24, 25, and 30 frames per second for 1080p. 50 or 60 frames per second for 720p). It loses a processor (down from 2) and reduced continuous shooting from the 7D but will come at a lower price point.

I think it’s great if you wanted the video options of the 7D but weren’t terribly comfortable with the initial price.

Random note - This mic is great when shooting video. Also a mic on a DSLR cracks me up.
