These were created with SketchBook Mobile on the iPhone. I haven’t really had a chance to play with the coloring but initial impressions with just sketching are really positive. I think it’s going for 3 bucks and might be worth your money if you’re looking to sketch on the go.

Comic strip brainstorming session thingy. I thought it would be helpful, to me at least, to try and gather my thoughts as I SLOWLY put a comic strip idea together -
I’m not a big horror person. I don’t go out of my way to see horror movies or play horror games (dear lord, Fatal Frame why are you so terrifying?) What I am a fan of is games that will have elements of horror but relies on other aspects such as suspense or action to help further carry the piece. Movies such as “The Thing”, “Aliens”, or “Predator” come to mind. As well as games like “Dead Space”, “Resident Evil”, or “Left 4 Dead”. I feel these are intended to elicit fear at times but do not do so the entire time (which may or may not be intentional).
With that in mind, I decided I wanted the protagonists to fight some monsters in the Cthulhu mythos. They are horrific, they are grotesque, and they give me a reason to try and draw these monsters in a fun action focused way.
The Dark Young act as proxies to Shub-Niggurath and are often described as black slimy rope appendages with hoofs and mouths. I think most of the illustrations I’ve seen of it do fit well as a horror monster but not necessarily a action-horror monster. I want something that could look big and mean even in a desert in broad day light.
I think it’s a long way off from a finalized concept but I think the drawing is a step in the action direction.
